Classes at the University

On Tuesday, July 24, I had two final exams. Both of my exams that day were oral presentations. Each professor decided to let the students pick and talk about any topic related to Spain. Therefore, for both of my classes, I gave a presentation on the life of Salavador Dali. The presentations were very easy since I was giving the same presentation for two different classes. Each presentation was approximately ten minutes. However, I wish I would have given two different presentations to expaned my knowledge about other things related to Spain.

I loved giving these oral presentation because I felt that speaking a language is the best way to learn it. Certain classes are only useful to help give students a better understanding about how to correctly contruct sentences without really teaching them how to speak the language. In other words, my grammar class in Salamanca, for example, taught me how to read and write more than how to speak. Everytime I speak, I must think about the correct tense of a verb and then say the sentence. However, taking many oral classes would help me start speaking without carefully thinking about how I would have to say a certain sentence. I think if the university offeres more hours per day for oral classes the students would quickly learn how to speak the language.
