Monday July 1, 2007, in Salamanca

Monday morning I woke up at around 3:30 am in the morning. Unable to go back to sleep, I decided to go for a walk that early morning. By 4:30 am, I was walking down the streets of Salmanca. There were very few people in the streets. As I was walking down the narrow streets to Plaza Major, I was amazed to see how beautiful city is at night. However, as I was passing by La Nueva y La Vieja, the bell of the cathedral started ringing and sounds of the bell were echoing. That was the first frightening experience for me in the city.

Monday morning the placement exam was being held. I was suprised to see that the placement exam was multiple choice. I believed that unlike the United States, Spain would be the country with the type of an educational system that would not even consider giving their students exams with multiple choice questions. Later that day the results of the exam were given. I was disappointed with the level I placed in. However, after attending the classes on Tuesday, I realized that I could learn much from them. Moreover, the classes I attend cover many interesting subjects and topics.
