Another person who also knows a lot about art is Luis. He returned yesterday and I have noticed the portions are getting larger and have more variety. Today I was so happy to see a pink dressing on the table. It was supposed used for the fish but I immediately drenched my salad with it. It was very good and a little spicy. The fish was also very good but since I don’t eat a lot of fish unless it is filleted, I almost swallowed the bones. This was by far the best meal I had and I can’t help but think it was a welcome home meal for her son. Either way I’m glad he is back.
Luis is a very educated and travels often. He was teaching me about Dali and he is very patient with my Spanish. The coolest thing about him is that if I don’t understand something he will take out an encyclopedia and draw pictures until I figure it out. He also understands English and often meets me a quarter of the way. I know he can speak more than he lets on but I think he understands that this is a learning experience and I appreciate that. I felt like my skills in Spanish were increasing but since my host mother speaks so fast and my roommates speak English my abilities were seem to be slowing down. Today, with Luis here I feel like I’m back on track and I can’t wait for school tomorrow.
