Despite the clothes situation everything else is going well, but I am getting a little tired of the dishes. My senora seems to be recycling the same dishes over and over. The bean sauce over pasta was really good the first night, but to have it four times a week is a little redundant. The portions she is preparing also seem to be getting smaller and smaller. Since my room mates are light eaters I often end up finishing most of what is prepared. Also she seems to be very health conscious and this can make some of the meals somewhat bland. Every night we have a plain salad consisting of lettuce and carrots but no dressing. We also have rice but it sometimes lacks flavor.
This isn’t that much of a problem because I am not usually a picky eater, but at this point I am really missing meat. Contrary to what I’ve heard about Espana’s famous pork dishes, my host mother believes pork is offensive to god. Although she supplements this with chicken and fish, it has reminded me of my great attachment to this sacrilegious dish. She also seems to notice that I concentrate more on the dishes that contain carbo-dehydrates and always insists that I have more salad. She also doesn’t like that I don’t eat enough melon after dinner. It’s not that I don’t like fruit but I am more used to eating it as a snack instead of a desert.
