Spanish Culture

Finally, on Friday I was able to go out with some spanish people. These people I went out with were the grandchildren of my host mother. We went out for a drink. As we were speaking, it was difficult for me to understand some things they said. However, they were nice enough to explain to me anythings that I did not understand. For the first time, I was able to talk to people about sports in Spain. I tried to talk about sports with my host father before. However, he said that in the house he does not discuss sports, religion, and poiltics. He gave me a few reasons why he does not discuss them. However, his two grandchildren seem to love discussions about sports.

On Thursday, Erica, Shelly, Chris and I went to purchase tickets for the train to go and see Sanfermin. I was amazed to see how rude people can be when they want to go home from work. We arrived at the train station just before closing time. Eager to go home, the employees did not even take the time to tell us what the prices of the tickets were and when we would arrive and come back from the place we were willing to visit. While purchasing the tickets, one of the employees called us "tontos," thinking that we did not understand what she was saying. Some people simply fail to think twice before they talk. Perhaps I should say that the employee does not think at all! Anyhow, we decided not to respond to what she said so we would get the tickets. For me, that is the worse experience in Salamanca so far.
