O dios mio.
We told the lady behind the glass that we would like 4 tickets to gijón for saturday at 5am. I said cinco because if i had meant 5pm i would have said 17. but apparently she just thought i was a silly american, which i am but im not stupid, and she tried to tell me there were no tickets for 5 on saturday, I knew there were tickets for 5am because we had done our research and looked at the bus schedules just before. finally she understood that we wanted them for the morning but in my opinion that took way too long. but oh well, thats how things are when you have a strong american accent. Next she asked us how we were going to pay and i told her that i was going to be paying for 2 and jennifer for the other 2. she said vale. so, she prints the first 2 and I pay for them and then jennifer goes to pay for the other 2 and the lady tells us that there is only one more seat left! why didnt she tell us before?! so now i have to change my tickets that i already payed for and we decide to take the bus that leaves at 9am instead. But there was still one more problem, she had wrote one of the tickets(we thought at the time) for ida y vuelta the same day. so jennifer had to go switch hers again. ay.
So the next day we met up at the bus station at 830, ready with our carrefour picnics for the 5 hour bus ride ahead of us. We were expecting that ride to be a little painful, 5 hours in a cramped bus usually is, but it was surprisingly nice. We all slept the first 2 hours until we got to the rest stop. we inside ther and we all bought ourselves some delicious candy! then back on the bus. the second half of the bus ride was absolutely beautiful. we drove through beautiful mountains on both sides. There were all sorts of cute little pueblos here and there on the mountains, it made feel really happy for some reason.
After about 5 hours we made it to gijón! as soon as we got off the bus we could smell the ocean. It lifted all of our spirits which was good since we had a lot ahead of us. We started what would end up being a very long walk looking for a place to sleep we took turns going in to places and asking if they had rooms availiable but they were all completo. we even tried a nicer 3 star hotel and the clerk just laughed at us and said good luck! but he was nice enough to give us a list of phone numbers for all the hostals and hotels in gijón. So we went into a cafe to start the phone calls. we called literally almost 20 different places that were all full, except for a few that just had space for one person. finally we found one that was pretty far away but had room for all of us but then the phone started making all of these crazy noises and we had to hang up. so we decided to take a cab up to the place and risk it.
