At dinner the atmosphere was a little different. When I asked for the pasta, my host mother made a joke about how I like a lot of pasta. She complained about how didn't like salad. Instead of serving me the pasta she asked her son to pass the salad. Since her son's thought she was playing a joke on me, the told her no and that she shouldn't do that. Then she got mad and told them she didn't want to serve me salad, she wanted the spoon from the bowl, which was much more efficient in serving the pasta. But when she began serving she seemed to be making a point my serving me a mountainous portion and still adding more after I said it was enough.

Despite my host mother's irradic humor, there was much levity in the situation. During dinner, we also had some political conversation. Luis pointed out a cartoon of a man and woman having sex on television. Apparently the character represented the king of Spain. I asked him what he thought of the king. He said that he seems ok, but he's not sure what the purpose is of having a monarch. After lunch I told my host mother that I will be home for dinner but since I haven't been joining them usually, I wasn't sure what time to arrive. She then told me that, now she cooks for me only and I should chose the time I want to eat. There was a bit of sarcasm in her voice and her sons laughed heartily. I told ten pm would be perfect.
